Chesapeake Bay Skipjack

8/7/10: Tearing Out Rotten Boards From the Port Side

Gordon and David Gladden tear out rotten boards from the port side of the Skipjack Ida May. Elbert took the day off today to watch 5 games of fast pitch softball. Elbert loves his softball and at 75 years old, he still plays.

The Skipjack, Fannie Daughtery, was also at Scott's Cove with the Ida May. She was hauled out so that her bottom could be scraped and repainted for the Labor Day Skipjack Races.

Three little boys were mudlarking and crabbing around Scott's Cove, and they reminded Gordon of his own childhood in Chance. Although much is changed since Gordon was a little boy, some things remain the same.
