IDA MAY

Chesapeake Bay Skipjack

Gordon and David Gladden remove the davits from the Skipjack, Ida May. A davit is a large, "goose-necked" steel structure on the stern of the boat used to suspend and lower the yawl, or push boat. The Ida May is a sailboat with no motor, so we have a little boat with a big engine that can push us from behind when we're not using sails. The push boat is suspended from the davits.
